The food we put into are bodies is one of the biggest factors in maintaining good health! We do it so often that we tend to forget about how important it is! In today's world there are a lot of things on a label that we don't know what they are! Here are the basic things of what we should look for in a label to insure your body is being taken care of the way you would like!

.) Count the Calories: Look at the serving size, the number of servings, and the number of calories per serving. Many packages are LOADED with calories, sugars and fats! Check what an appropriate serving amount is before you eat the whole bag.

.) Check for Heart Health: Choose foods that are lower in saturated fat and sodium. Many processed foods are loaded with sodium. Be mindful and choose ones with lower sodium. Some big culprits are soy sauce, canned soup, canned veggies and lunch meat.

.) Is it nutritionally valuable?: Check out the ingredients. Select foods that are nutrient dense and a good source of fiber. Basic rule to go by, if you don't know what the word is, you might not want to eat it. Try to choose foods with basic common ingredients!

.) Preservatives- Preservatives are great at preserving food but not so great at preserving the health of your body. Steer clear of BHT, MSG, Annatto and other preservatives.

.) Dyes- Yellow, Red, Blue with a # are food coloring dyes which are terrible for your body. Many cause side effects like trouble focusing, hyper activity, or stomach upset.
